HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Kate was our beautiful little witch this year. She had a lot of fun dressing up this year. So much fun that she had to have two different costumes.

Here is the whole family at Molly's brother Jeremy's "Dia de los Muertos" party that he has every year. As you can see, Kate is the witch, Molly is Rosie the Riveter and I am the last minute Ninja using some of my cycling wear.

This wasn't a costume this year, but maybe for next year Kate can be a bath time unicorn.

This last picture is Kate's other costume that she used to go to the Ward Halloween party in. She is supposed to be a little frog.

So it has been awhile since we updated our Blog. So without further a due, I have decided to do it with a little comment on our pics. I hope that you all enjoy.

Here we are taking Kate on the Haunted House ride at Lagoon for Stampin' Up! Lagoon Day. As you can see we were scared but Kate could care less.
Here we decided to take a little hike up Cathrine's pass up from Alta looking down into Brighton.
I thought that this was such a great shot of the Tetons that I just had to add it. We recently went to Jackson Hole to enjoy Labor Day weekend.
Our Li'ls turned one on the 3rd so of course we had to celebrate.
Here first cake. We found out that she is allergic to eggs and peanuts so her cup cake was egg free.
Even without the egg she still enjoyed it.

The Andersen Family Cruise!

To celebrate Kai's (Kenton's Father) retirement the whole Andersen clan went on a Mexican Riviera cruise. It was such a fun trip! It was fun to have everyone so close and having so much fun together. Before we left for the cruise Molly and I went out a few days early to visit Kate's great grandmother Chalker. She is Molly's mother's mother. We were glad to visit her so we could show off Kate.

Here represent four generations of women on Molly's side of the family. We would have liked to have had Molly's mom in the picture as well to have a four generations photo.
Here we are getting all excited for the trip. I believe that this shot was taken within minutes of the boat pulling away from the dock.

Kate on our bed trying top lay claim to it, but we made her sleep in the crib on the floor.

Here I am trying to make it up the climbing wall. It was my first time on a climbing wall and I was not that good at it.

Molly made the ship's climbing wall look like a walk in the park.

Kate was hungry but the mermaid offered no milk from her offered breasts.

Can you guess that we are all waiting for a bus? It was hot in Puerto Vallarta but it sure was fun and beautiful.

This was Kate's reaction to taking a ride in the small boat that we hired to take us to the beach.

This was a "Formal Night" on board and we did our best to look sexy and Kate did her best to look like she has seen a ghost.

Here Molly and I were frolicking in the waves of Cabo San Lucas. Devra and Sawyer we also having a good time.

Here is a picture of our boat, pictured on the left, and another boat that stopped at Cabo. Although our boat looks smaller due to the distance it was actually bigger than the one on the right.

Just a fun time enjoying Mexico. Just minutes before this shot was taken we were enjoying some delicious fish tacos.

This was a shot of all of us in a truck taxi. Yep, there were 15 of us crammed into the back of this small pick up. Looks safe doesn't it. You have got to love the relaxed laws in Mazatlan.

Molly Graduates Again!

Molly graduated from the University of Utah with Masters degree in Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. We now have a practitioner in the family. It was a hard road at times and Molly worked harder than she wanted to with a job, school and a new baby, but she made it. We are so incredibly proud of her.

Molly runs a half Marathon!

Molly and her friend Sarah decided like two little crazies to run a half marathon. Molly has been training for some time now getting ready to run it. She even ran 10 miles around the top of our cruise ship while we were out to sea. She is such a tough wife and Kate and I are very proud of her. Matt (Sarah's husband) and I were there to cheer them on and support them any way we could.

So it was time for the girls trip to St. George!

The girls had an awesome time down in St. George. Lisa came in from the city of Rock and stayed at our house for a couple of days before all the ladies went south to the sun and fun. It is always fun at the Andersen's when Lisa comes to town. We had an even neater treat because Suzy decided to sleep over as well so the house was full. The ladies thought that they would escape the Salt Lake cold and find some nice temps down in St. George, but little did they know that the temps in SLC were perfect and down south they had 104 degree days. Ouch! Regardless of the heat they had a ball.

They stayed in the condos near Green Valley and of course had to do the Stucki Springs - Green Valley Loop. That ride is definitely a top 5 here in Utah. Molly, Suzy and Lisa all had a ball and Lisa had a few falls as well. But even with all of the falls Lisa assured everyone that she had a great time.

The girls also decided to visit Zion N.P. and do some site seeing. Kate was thrilled to see such beauty as evident from this picture of her showing off her cute little tiny toothed smile. Yep, Kate now has two tiny little bottom teeth.

Both Molly and Kate enjoyed cooling off in the pool. Kate was a great little swimmer and really enjoyed the pool. We are happy that see enjoys the water since we want her to be able to enjoy swimming and running rivers with her mom Molly.

Molly and I were very fortunate to be invited down to stay with Brock and Sommer Holt in St. George over Easter weekend. We had a ball while we were down there and can't wait to go again. While we were down there we did some cycling, hiking, mt. biking, swimming, walking and just some general relaxing with good friends. Brock and Sommer's daughter Gretta was just a doll and she and Kate became good friends. As you can see from the pictures below, we had an awesome time.

Quick Update

We have not been too exciting lately, but we are still having so much fun with Kate. It is fun to watch her grow and start to enjoy life more. She is sitting, rolling and wanting to crawl. Sometimes she gets up on all fours but then all she does is rock back and forth. She sure is a cutie!

So it was Valentine's Day and was I surprised by my ladies. Molly had cooked me a wonderful meal when I got home from work. She was dressed up and had Kate all dolled up as well. It was fun to have a lovely dinner with my to lovelies.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

Kate has now begun eating like the big kids. She is now eating solids, if we can call them that. We are feeding her some rice and banana flakes mixed with her milk. We started out really thin with the mixture but we are slowly making the mix thicker. We call her our little snapping turtle because of the way she "snaps" at the spoon trying to get the food. We think that it is really cute.

Kate is also a big fan of reading. She loves books of all kinds and sometimes she just reads them herself like in this picture. Sorry that the shot is sideways.

Here she is enjoying a toy that allows her to sit up. This week has had another first for Kate. Not only is she eating solids now, but she is also sitting all by her big self. We think that it is great but Molly and I agree that she is growing up a little too fast.

We thought that you would all like to see her and Molly enjoying a little dinner time that happened just tonight.

So a lot has happened since the last posting. Kate continues to grow so fast and is getting more beautiful every day like her mother. Kate is now able to roll over on her own which makes her parents very proud. She is laughing and making "talking" noises all the time. She is such a delight to be around and we just love having her here to be a part of our family.

Also since the last blog I was hospitalized with pneumonia for 11 days. When I first got sick I thought that perhaps all that I had was the flu. I was throwing up and had other intestinal issues. Then the night before we went to the hospital I was able to keep food down so I thought that I was getting better. There was this persistent pain in my chest on the right side, but I thought that it was just a pulled muscle from throwing up so often. Well, at about 5:30 am on Jan 1st I woke Molly up and said that we had better get to a hospital because the pain was unmanageable and I could barely breath. 11 days later of pain and chest tubes I was able to go home to recover. I feel so very much better but I still get winded easily and where the chest tube was is still a little painful.

So what is the lesson? Don't get pneumonia.

Yesterday Kate had her baby blessing. It was a wonderful event and it was such a great time for everyone involved. We all just got back from sunny Florida. It was fun and Kate did so well. We went and stayed with Molly's sister Lisa and her family. It was a lot of fun and we did a lot of fun things.

On September 3rd at 2:55 PM Molly and Kenton welcomed the newest addition to the family. Kate is a beautiful 7 lb 9 oz 20 inch long baby girl. Boys Trip to Moab

Dave, Brock, Steve and I returned from a fun weekend mountain biking in Moab. We road Porcupine Rim, Bartlett Wash and Sovereign Trail. All of the trails were fun and we had an awesome time. The trails were cery technical and the Porcupine Rim was both mentally and physically exhausting. We can't wait to do it again next year!

Our Trip to Great Basin NP

Molly, and I with her younger sister Suzy and husband Brannon had a wonderful time in Great Basin NP. This is a smaller park on the Utah Nevada border with the worlds oldest living things (Bristle Cone Pines) as well as one of the coolest caves (Leman) that I have seen. It was a quick two nighter but it was fun.

Hello Belize!

Molly and I have just returned from the wonderful world of Belize. It was very hard to return to the hustle and bustle of the real world again after a wonderful week on Vacation.

Belize is a wonderful world of contrasts. We started our trip on Caye (pronounced "key") Caulker. This small island is about a 45 minute water taxi ride off the main land. While their we enjoyed a very laid back and relaxed atmosphere that can only be found in the waters of the Caribbean. Also we had a chance to go snorkeling on the second longest barrier reef in the world. The waters were so clear and blue. Gorgeous!

We then spent one night on Caye Ambergris in the town of San Pedro. It was still beautiful, but it was more crowded.

From the islands we then moved onto the Jungle. We took a three hour bus ride into the jungled hills to a small town called San Ignacio. From here we went into Guatamala for one day to see Tikal. We also saw many ruins in this area of Belize. We also had a chance to go to the Mountain Pine Ridge National Park. In this area of Belize there are many rivers, waterfalls and Piny forests. It was a lot cooler and less humid in this part of Belize. It is a great place to find refuge from the heat and humidity of the rest of the country.

We are glad to be back but can't wait for the next time we go.

Molly and I would like to be the first to let you welcome the newest (future) Andersen. Yep, that's right . . . we are pregnant! Molly is 9-10 weeks along and we will be expecting our new little Kenny or Molly sometime in August. As you can see in the picture the little guy is tiny. If you look closely you can see the head on the left and the body to the right. We are excited as can be and we will keep you all up to date.

My Business Trip to Europe!

Sorry that it has been awhile since I have posted anything. I have been busy and work has been crazy! I recently returned from a 10 trip to Europe to visit Spain, Italy, the Netherlands and the UK. It was a fun trip and the people and food were great. I think that I liked Italy best although all the countries were awesome. Please enjoy the pics from the visit. The pics from top to bottom are 1. Ride on the Temple Quarry

This last weekend Molly and I went for a ride up the Temple Quarry trail in Little Cottonwood Canyon. We went with Molly's little sister Suzy and her beau Brannon. Also we had the pleasure of riding with our other friends Tiff, Amy and Stacey. As you can see from the pictures it was a lot of fun. Only Amy had a spill as you can see from the pictures.

The Tour de Four!

The mighty feat of conquering the four canyons has been put to bed one more year. Yesterday Jeff Cole and I rode up and down Little Cottonwood, Big Cottonwood, Millcreek and Emigration Canyons. We started at my house at 7:30 in the morning and I ended up at my parents house at 4:30 that afternoon after riding 104 miles and climbing 11,650 feet. Jeff of course was feeling better than I so he continued on back to his house finishing the loop. Next year we want to do it in the spring time and do it faster. This year it took me 7 1/2 hours to do 104 miles. Next year . . . we will see.

Molly finished a Marathon!

Well, well, well. You won't believe it but Molly has run a Marathon! September 23rd will go down in history as the day that Molly can finally check off a marathon on her list of thinkgs to do. We woke up late in the morning and headed for Utah Lake. Molly ran from near Saratoga Springs to Goshen. 26.2 miles later and about 50 on my bike she was done. I would ride along side as well as leave for awhile to get a few miles in on the bike. She was a trooper that day and impressed me. Thanks for showing us that anything is possible Molly!

Fishing with the boys!

My father Kai and my brother Braden and I went camping over Labor Day. We went to Paradise Park in the Uintah's. The Reservoir was very low but the fishing was still hot. We had fresh cooked fish to eat every night and fires that raged. At one lake we went to fish for the elusive jumper that was never caught we heard something large in the trees braking branches. Kai thought it was a moose, but I know better, it was a bigfoot.

We all decided however that we all need to go camping and fishing more often.

I saw a bear!

I always thought that bears were figment of the imagination, but I saw one. That is right, after 32 years on this earth I finally saw a bear. And not just one but two. A mother black bear and her cub were about 40 feet up a pine tree eating pine cones. They looked as comfortable as a couple of monkeys in that tree. It was so incredibly cool. Molly and I were on our way to Surprise and Amphitheater Lake in Teton National Park when about 2.5 miles in there they were.

While in Jackson Hole we also did a little white water rafting and camping. As always it was beautiful and awesome.

Wright Family Reunion

Well well well . . . another summer is almost over and alas it has gone too quickly once again. The Wright's converged this summer at Bear Lake for the family reunion. We all had fun cooking on the fire, swimming, water skiing going to Minnetonka Cave and of course surviving the horrendous winds that toppled a few tents. Molly and I went to Jackson Hole for the 4th of July weekend. We went with three of her brothers (Brian, Bart and Brad) and met up with her sister Suzy and her boyfriend Brannon. We stayed at the Boy Scout adventure base where Suzy, Brannon and her niece Heather work. We had a grand time running the river, biking, hiking, swimming, cliff jumping and visiting the Tetons and Yellowstone. Enjoy the bounteous pictures.

Molly and I recently enjoyed a Memorial Day weekend in Zion NP. We went camping in the Kolob Canyon area of the Park. We also went into the main canyon for some other adventurous hikes. We summited Angels Landing as well as the very large burritos of the "Bit and Spur" restaurant, which I cannot recommend.
